ABOUT JESSICA J. DARVISHI

Jessica Darvishi is a Sign Language Instructor who holds multiple certifications in both Texas and California. She is certified in the Texas Assessment of Sign Communication: American Sign Language and holds a Single Subject Teaching California Credential in American Sign Language. Additionally, Jessica is certified in General Education and Special Education in California.

In addition to her certifications, Jessica is a Deaf Educator in a K-12 setting, holding a certification in the Texas Examinations of Educator Standards: Early Childhood through Sixth (EC-6) Generalist. Jessica graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Deaf Education and furthered her studies at Gallaudet University with a Master’s in Sign Language Education in 2019.

Jessica has over eleven years of teaching experience in various settings, including K-12 and administrative roles. At Stephen F. Austin State University, she taught ASL levels 1-3, providing students with a strong foundation in American Sign Language. Her expertise extends to developing and implementing curriculum-based lessons, individualized education plan (IEP) objectives, and state standards (Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills). She collaborates closely with classroom teachers to modify curricula as needed and provides essential support for Deaf students in mainstream classes, ensuring their success in vocabulary and content knowledge.

Jessica's vision is to encourage and lead students to successful lifelong learning while promoting social and cultural awareness. Her passion lies in preparing students to attain their potential and become contributing citizens of their communities and society at large.
